Best Free AI Calling Agents in India (and What Free Really Means)
Running an AI calling agent on real phone lines is a paid service almost everywhere in India; what is free is the test. Outpero gives 50 free credits at signup with no card, others offer paid trials, free builds or free chat tiers, and this guide sorts them by what you actually get, from facts each vendor publishes as of 2026-10-14. Outpero publishes this post and sells the product it describes.
Outpero publishes this post and offers 50 free credits, so it is a party to the comparison. Facts about other vendors come from their own websites, read on 2026-10-14 unless a date is given. Where a vendor publishes no figure, the post says so. 'Free' here means what a vendor itself describes as free or as a trial.
Four things people mean by free
Searches for a free AI call bot mix four different needs. Some people want to test a product before paying. Some want a free tool they can run indefinitely. Some want to build an agent without paying until it goes live. Some just want to see a demo. A vendor's page can satisfy one of these and fail the others, so it helps to name which you need.
- 01Free signup credits. You get a small balance to place real calls with no payment. Once it is used you top up. This is the closest thing to a free test of a pay-as-you-go product.
- 02Paid trials. A short, low-priced period, such as a week or a small plan, that lets you use the product properly. Cheap, but not free.
- 03Free build. You can design the agent without paying and pay only when you place calls. Useful for judging the setup, less useful for judging the calls.
- 04Free tier on a different product. A free plan for chat or another channel, which says nothing about voice calling.

The pattern is clear. Outpero is the only vendor in this set that lists free credits for real calls, and only up to a limit; Bland asks for no card but charges per minute from the first call. Everyone else asks for money at the point of real calling, which is reasonable, because calls cost telephony and compute whoever pays for them. The practical question is how small the first commitment is.
What 50 free credits actually buys
One credit is ₹1. Fifty credits therefore cover ₹50 of talk time: about ten connected minutes on Standard at ₹5 a minute, or about seven on Premium at ₹6.8. Unanswered calls are not billed, so only conversations that connect use credits.
Ten minutes is small but enough for a real test. Five two-minute calls, or ten one-minute calls, are enough to judge the voice, the language, the pauses and the write-up. It is not enough to measure pickup rates or run a campaign. Credits pay for talk time only; a dedicated +91 business number is a separate ₹649 a month, which includes one channel.
The costs hiding behind free
- —Telephony. Some platforms bill calls and numbers separately from the agent. Bland's Start plan lists telephony as extra, and its pages do not describe India or DLT.
- —Minimum commitments. A paid plan that starts after a trial, such as Vomyra's ₹15,000 a month, or Ringg's unstated monthly minimum, changes the economics of a small pilot.
- —Expiry. VoiceGenie states that unused minutes expire at the end of each billing interval. Outpero's credits never expire, so a slow month costs you nothing extra.
- —GST. Most vendors quote prices excluding 18% GST. Add it to every figure.
- —Your time. A free agent that takes a week to configure is not free. Check whether the setup is describing the job in plain words or building a flow node by node.
- —Compliance. Free or cheap outbound calling without DLT registration and DND screening can cost far more in blocked numbers than the saving. Outpero's calling line is DLT-registered and bulk campaigns screen against DND.
How to run a useful free test
Want to hear this working, not just read about it?
- 01Pick one call you actually need, such as calling back a new enquiry or confirming an order. Do not test a generic hello.
- 02Write the script in the language your customers use, with English mixed in the way they would, and have a native speaker place the test call.
- 03Interrupt the agent, give a phone number digit by digit, and say a price in lakh.
- 04Check the output: the recording, the transcript, the summary and the fields. If nothing structured comes out, the call will not feed your CRM.
- 05Write down the cost of each call. Credits used per call appear in the call log, so you can extrapolate the monthly cost honestly.
- 06Repeat the exact test with one other vendor and compare side by side.
When free is not enough
A free balance proves the product works. It does not tell you whether it fits your volume. Here is a quick way to think about it. At 500 connected minutes a month on Standard, the calling cost is ₹2,500, plus ₹649 for the number, or ₹3,149 before GST. At 5,000 minutes it is ₹25,000 plus the number.
At that scale a flat monthly plan can be cheaper. Vomyra's published plans cross over at roughly 4,000 minutes a month on a single line against a ₹5 per-minute rate. A per-minute price wins when volume is small, uneven or seasonal, and a flat plan wins when it is large and steady. Outpero says plainly that high volumes get custom rates and setup help, so ask when you get there.
Free options that are not AI calling
Some businesses searching for a free call bot are really looking to answer calls without hiring. Before you pay for any AI, check the free basics that already exist.
- —A missed-call number, where customers dial and hang up and you call back. It is cheap, but someone has to make the callbacks.
- —A WhatsApp Business account with quick replies and an away message. Free to start, and it works for customers who prefer to type.
- —A Google Sheet that your lead form writes to, so no enquiry is lost even if no one calls straight away.
- —A human rota for the first hour of leads, if you have the staff.
These help, but none of them calls a new enquiry in thirty seconds at 11 pm in the customer's own language, which is the gap an AI calling agent fills. If the gap is not costing you leads, the free basics may be enough for now.
Questions to ask before you top up
- —What is the exact price of one connected minute in my language, and does it change by tier or time of day?
- —What is excluded: the number, telephony, GST, analytics or integrations?
- —Do credits or minutes expire, and is there a monthly minimum?
- —Can I see the credits used by each call in a log, so I can check the bill?
- —What happens to my recordings and transcripts if I leave?
- —Is DLT registration done for me, and is DND screening part of bulk campaigns?
A vendor that answers these plainly before you have paid anything is usually the one that will answer them plainly afterwards.
Where Outpero fits, and where it does not
Outpero suits a small or mid-sized business that wants to start with no setup fee and no contract and see real calls in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Marathi, Kannada, Malayalam or English before paying. It is the specialist choice if regional languages matter. It is not the right pick if you need a free voice tier that runs indefinitely, a chat or WhatsApp agent, an enterprise contract with certifications, or a language it does not support, such as Bengali or Gujarati.
Frequently asked questions
Is there a completely free AI calling agent in India?
+
Not for real, sustained calling. Telephony and compute cost money, and one vendor's own FAQ says business-grade voice AI is a paid service. What exists is a free test: Outpero gives 50 free credits at signup with no card, which covers about ten minutes of Standard calls. After that you pay per connected minute.
How many calls can I make with 50 free credits?
+
Fifty credits equal ₹50 of talk time. On Standard at ₹5 a minute that is about ten connected minutes, such as five two-minute calls. On Premium at ₹6.8 it is about seven minutes. Unanswered calls are not billed, so only connected conversations use credits.
Do I need a credit card to try Outpero?
+
No. Signup gives 50 free credits without a card. A dedicated +91 business number is a separate ₹649 a month, which includes one channel, and prices exclude 18% GST. There is no setup fee, no subscription and no lock-in, and credits you buy later never expire.
Are free AI voice agent tools safe for business calling?
+
Check compliance before any volume. India expects DLT registration of the calling line and DND screening for bulk outbound calls. Some tools, especially global ones, do not mention either on their pages. Test with a few calls, and ask any vendor how it handles DLT and DND before calling real customers.
What is the cheapest paid option after the free trial?
+
It depends on volume. Outpero starts at ₹5 per connected minute with no monthly fee. Ringg lists ₹6 a minute with a monthly minimum, and Vomyra has flat plans from ₹19,999 a month. For low or uneven volume a per-minute price is usually cheaper; for very high steady volume a flat plan can win.
Can I use a free chatbot instead of a calling agent?
+
Only if your customers prefer typing. Yellow.ai's free plan, for example, covers 500 chat sessions a month, which is chat and not phone calls. Many Indian customers still prefer to talk in their own language, and a call reaches people who do not open messages. Judge the channel by how your customers respond.
The Outpero team builds AI voice agents for Indian businesses, in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Marathi, Kannada, Malayalam and English. Figures are from Outpero's own product unless another source is named.
