Best AI Calling Software for Small Business in India (2026)

For a small Indian business, the best AI calling software starts without a developer, a contract or a setup fee, and costs less than the missed calls it fixes. Outpero publishes this guide and charges ₹5 or ₹6.8 a connected minute plus ₹649 a month for a number, so a 1,000-minute month on Standard costs about ₹5,649 before GST. Other options win at other volumes, and the tables below show where.

Outpero publishes this guide and is one of the products in it. Other vendors' prices come from their own public websites, checked on 14 October 2026 (Edesy on 30 July 2026). Prices change, so confirm before you pay. Outpero is not the cheapest choice at every volume, and the tables say so.

What a small business needs from AI calling

A small business does not need a voice AI platform. It needs three jobs done on the phone, reliably. Answer the calls you miss. Call new enquiries before a competitor does. Remind or confirm so that fewer appointments and orders fall through.

Picture a dental clinic whose receptionist is with a patient when the phone rings, a Surat trader whose enquiries arrive from IndiaMART during a busy morning, or a coaching centre that gets a rush of admission leads after a Meta ad goes live. In each case, the cost is not the software. It is the enquiry that went unanswered.

That changes what to look for. Features matter less than three practical things: what you will really pay at your volume, how fast you can be live without anyone technical, and whether the agent speaks to your customers in their language.

Selection criteria that matter at small scale

  • —Total monthly cost at your volume, including the phone number, GST and anything billed on top of the headline rate.
  • —No minimum, no yearly billing, no setup fee. A small business should be able to stop in any month.
  • —Time to live. Self-serve sign-up and a test call the same day beat a demo, a quote and a pilot period.
  • —Customer language. Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Marathi, Kannada or Malayalam, plus the English your customers mix in.
  • —Both directions. Inbound answering and outbound calling, so one tool covers missed calls and lead follow-up.
  • —A phone number that is set up for Indian calling rules, and a calling line that is DLT-registered.
  • —A human fallback. A way to transfer the call to you or your staff when a person should take it.
  • —Records you can keep. A transcript, a summary and an export, so the call becomes a lead in your own sheet or CRM.

What it really costs at your volume

Outpero is billed per connected minute from prepaid credits, with 1 credit equal to ₹1 and credits that never expire. A dedicated +91 business number is ₹649 a month and includes one channel, meaning one call at a time. Here is the monthly bill at three volumes, before 18% GST.

Connected minutes a monthStandard (₹5/min)Premium (₹6.8/min)Rough meaning
300₹1,500 + ₹649 = ₹2,149₹2,040 + ₹649 = ₹2,689About 100 three-minute calls: a clinic's missed calls or a small lead list
1,000₹5,000 + ₹649 = ₹5,649₹6,800 + ₹649 = ₹7,449Roughly 330 three-minute calls: steady lead follow-up for one team
3,000₹15,000 + ₹649 = ₹15,649₹20,400 + ₹649 = ₹21,049Roughly 1,000 three-minute calls: a busy inbound line or regular campaigns

Unanswered calls are not billed. If you need several calls at once, each extra channel is ₹649 a month, and you can add or remove one in any month. High volumes get custom rates and setup help.

The honest reading is this. At about 300 minutes a month, Edesy's ₹1,499 tier with 300 included minutes is cheaper than any per-minute service, though you should check what the number costs and whether it is included. At 1,000 to 3,000 minutes, per-minute billing with no commitment is competitive. Past about 4,000 minutes on a single line, Vomyra's flat plans start to win. Outpero's advantage is not the lowest price at every volume; it is that you can predict the bill, start with ₹0 and leave whenever you like.

Compared with hiring one person

A telecaller in India costs roughly ₹15,000 to ₹25,000 a month (₹18,000 is a reasonable reference), works one shift and takes one call at a time. ₹18,000 on Outpero Standard buys about 3,400 connected minutes after the number, around 57 hours of conversation, available at any hour. Most small businesses should keep the person for sensitive calls and let the AI take the repetitive first contact.

Want to hear this working, not just read about it?

Three small businesses, three monthly bills

These are illustrations with assumed volumes, not customer results. Each uses Outpero Standard at ₹5 a connected minute plus the ₹649 number, before GST.

BusinessAssumed useConnected minutesMonthly bill (Standard)
Dental clinic100 missed calls a month answered and booked, about 2 minutes each200₹1,000 + ₹649 = ₹1,649
Trader with IndiaMART leads200 new leads called within 30 seconds, about 2 minutes each400₹2,000 + ₹649 = ₹2,649
Coaching centre600 admission enquiries qualified, about 3 minutes each, plus a reminder campaign1,800₹9,000 + ₹649 = ₹9,649

Notice that the number is the only fixed cost, and that the bill moves with calls that actually connect. A slow month costs less, which is the opposite of a fixed salary or a yearly plan. Add the 18% GST when you budget, and add a channel (₹649 a month) only if you regularly need two calls at once.

Questions to ask before you pay anyone

  • —What is the total in rupees for my expected minutes, including the number, telephony and GST?
  • —Is there a minimum monthly spend, a yearly commitment or a one-time setup cost?
  • —Can I try it on my own list in my customers' language before I pay?
  • —What happens to my recordings and transcripts if I leave?

Where each type of vendor is the better pick

  • —Pick Edesy if you make only a few hundred calls a month and want minutes bundled in a small fixed fee.
  • —Pick Vomyra if your volume is steady and high, or if you want 70-plus claimed languages and a reseller route.
  • —Pick Ringg AI if you want to draw the call flow yourself and may add WhatsApp or chat agents.
  • —Pick MyOperator or Knowlarity if the main need is a phone system for your staff, with IVR, routing and numbers, and AI is secondary.
  • —Pick SquadStack if you want a managed team to run campaigns and can wait through a setup and pilot.
  • —Pick Outpero if you want to start the same day, pay only for talk time, and talk to customers in a regional language.

How Outpero works for a small business

You describe the job, pick a voice tier and the agent is ready, often the same day. It then handles four kinds of call. It calls a new lead within 30 seconds of the enquiry arriving. It works through a CSV list with scheduling, calling windows, retries and DND screening. It answers calls to your business number around the clock, qualifies the caller and books the appointment. It can also play one fixed message, such as an offer or reminder, to a whole list; this is voice broadcast and is not an AI conversation.

It speaks Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Marathi, Kannada, Malayalam and Indian English, and moves into English the moment the caller does. Within the call it can book a calendar slot, read or write a spreadsheet, send a WhatsApp message and transfer to you. It remembers returning callers and picks up from the last conversation instead of starting over.

When it is the wrong tool

If you make fewer than a few dozen calls a month, a phone and a diary will do. If your customers need Bengali, Gujarati, Punjabi, Odia or Urdu, those languages are not available in Outpero yet. If most of your contact happens on WhatsApp and not by voice, a WhatsApp tool is the better first purchase. If you need a full phone system for staff, start with a telephony vendor.

A one-week trial

  1. 01Day 1: sign up (50 free credits, no card) and describe one job in a few sentences, for example confirming appointments for tomorrow.
  2. 02Day 1: call your own phone and listen in your customers' language. Switch to English mid-sentence and see if it follows.
  3. 03Days 2 to 3: run it on 20 real contacts. Read the transcripts, check the fields captured and note anything that sounds wrong.
  4. 04Days 4 to 5: connect it to your sheet or CRM through the webhook, and set one rule for transferring to you.
  5. 05Days 6 to 7: compare the credits used against the outcomes: bookings made, no-shows avoided, leads qualified. Decide what a month at this volume would cost.

Run the same week on any alternative you are considering and judge both on the same 20 contacts.

Frequently asked questions

How much does AI calling software cost for a small business in India?

+

With Outpero there is no setup fee or subscription. You pay ₹5 (Standard) or ₹6.8 (Premium) per connected minute, plus ₹649 a month for a +91 number that includes one channel, all before 18% GST. A 1,000-minute month on Standard is about ₹5,649. Other vendors use flat monthly tiers or custom quotes, so compare the full bill.

Can AI calling software answer my missed calls?

+

Yes. Outpero's inbound mode answers calls to your business number around the clock, handles the enquiry, qualifies the caller, books the appointment and logs everything. It remembers returning callers and picks up from the last conversation. For a clinic, salon or coaching centre, that replaces voicemail and the callback list the next morning.

Do I need a developer or technical staff?

+

Not for Outpero: you describe the job, choose the voice tier and test it, and the agent can be live the same day. A developer helps only if you want a direct API or webhook from your own system. Platforms built for developers, such as Vapi, assume engineering effort, so check the setup model of any vendor first.

Which languages can a small business use?

+

Outpero supports Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Marathi, Kannada, Malayalam and Indian English, at the same per-minute price in each, and it switches to English mid-sentence when the caller does. Bengali, Gujarati, Punjabi, Odia and Urdu are not available. Other vendors list different languages, so check yours before signing.

Is there a minimum commitment or a contract?

+

Not with Outpero. Credits are prepaid, never expire, and there is no lock-in or contract. Some competitors set monthly minimums, yearly billing or one-year contracts: Ringg AI mentions a monthly minimum commitment, MyOperator bills yearly and Knowlarity's softphone plans have a one-year minimum. Read the commitment line before you compare prices.

Will AI calling replace my staff?

+

For most small businesses it takes the repetitive first contact, such as answering missed calls, qualifying leads and sending reminders, and leaves the judgement to people. Outpero can transfer a call to your team when a person should take it. That is a better use of one telecaller or receptionist than replacing them.
