Kanglish AI voice agents
Outpero's AI voice agent speaks Kanglish: it opens in Kannada and switches to English the moment the caller does, mid-sentence, in the same voice. That is how most Bengaluru business calls sound, and the agent calls each new enquiry within 30 seconds, from ₹5/min with no setup fee.
* Time from the lead reaching Outpero to the first ring, under normal conditions. It depends on how quickly your lead source delivers the lead.
No census counts Kanglish; it is the working register of many of Kannada's 43.7 million first-language speakers (Census 2011), above all in Bengaluru
Why Kanglish is hard for voice AI
Kanglish folds English into Kannada grammar — 'book maadi', 'cancel aaytu', 'confirm maadtini' — so the English word carries the topic while the Kannada suffix carries tense, politeness and negation. Bengaluru adds a further layer: callers drop in Tamil, Telugu or Hindi words picked up in a city where all three are widely spoken, and switch to full English for anything technical or financial.
What Outpero does in Kanglish
Kanglish is how Outpero's Kannada agent works by default — no separate mode. The agent opens in polite everyday Kannada and follows callers into English mid-sentence. Its switching is between Kannada and English: callers who prefer Tamil, Telugu or Hindi are better reached with a separate campaign in that language. There is no per-dialect training.

Five ways to use a Kanglish AI voice agent
Kanglish AI calling agent
A Kanglish AI calling agent rings a Bengaluru lead in everyday Kannada, 'Namaskara sir', and takes the English the lead brings: 'next Saturday aagutta?' Bengaluru leads arrive from Meta ads, 99acres and web forms at all hours, so the call goes out within 30 seconds rather than at the next shift.
Kanglish voice bot
A Kanglish voice bot is conversational where a typical IVR is not. The caller says 'Koramangala branch timing yenu?' and gets an answer, then asks a follow-up in English and gets that too. Kannada endings such as -aagutta and -alla are kept, so a statement is not mistaken for a question.
Kanglish AI receptionist
A Kanglish AI receptionist picks up for a Bengaluru clinic, PG hostel or garage when the front desk is busy or closed. A caller asking 'appointment beku, tomorrow evening' gets a slot booked. Repeat callers are recognised, and a call that needs a person can be transferred to your team.
Kanglish IVR replacement
Kanglish IVR replacement removes 'Kannadakke ondu ottiri' from the front of the call. The caller speaks, whether 'bill yeshtu aagide' or 'delivery yavaga barutte', and the agent answers. Tech-park and apartment-complex callers go straight to the answer in a single step.
Kanglish AI telecalling
Kanglish AI telecalling runs a CSV list across Karnataka with calling windows, retries and DND screening. A Bengaluru list is usually mixed: Kannada-first, English-first, and some who prefer Hindi or Tamil. The Kannada agent covers the first two; for the third, add a separate campaign in that language.
How it opens the call
Hi, ನಾನು FitHub ಇಂದ Priya — ನೀವು free trial ಗೆ register ಮಾಡಿದ್ರಿ, tomorrow morning slot ok ನಾ?
“Hi, this is Priya from FitHub — you registered for the free trial. Is a slot tomorrow morning okay?”
A service-due reminder from a car workshop to an owner in Jayanagar, Bengaluru.

Best Kanglish AI voice agent: how to judge one
| What to test | How to test it |
|---|---|
| Tense and negation in the Kannada ending | Say 'confirm maadtini', 'confirm maadalla' and 'confirm maadidde' on three calls. Future, negative and past all hang off one English stem, so the agent should record three different outcomes. |
| Neevu, not neenu | Kannada separates the respectful neevu from the casual neenu. A sales agent should use neevu with every caller; listen for slips on a test call, especially when the tester sounds older. |
| Hindi and Tamil words inside Kannada | Drop in 'jaldi' or 'seri' as Bengaluru callers do. The Kannada agent is not a Hindi or Tamil agent, so check that it carries on sensibly and flags a caller who wants another language. |
| Mixed-language place names | Say Basavanagudi, Banashankari 3rd Stage, Hebbal flyover and Whitefield main road. Ask the agent to read an address back, then check the captured field against what was said. |
| Interruptions at tech-park speed | Speak fast, as from an Electronic City office, interrupt mid-reply and add some background noise. The agent should stop talking when cut in on and still catch the Kannada particles that follow. |

What you will hear
How Kanglish is spoken across regions
| Variety | What to expect |
|---|---|
| Bengaluru Kanglish (Whitefield, HSR Layout, Electronic City, Indiranagar) | Dense with English and quick to switch, using Kannada mainly for particles and politeness. A single neutral register is used, so listen to a sample of your own leads before scaling. |
| Old Mysuru Kanglish (Mysuru, Mandya, Hassan, Chamarajanagar) | More Kannada and less English, with local vocabulary and a slower pace; English tends to appear for fees, forms and appointment times. Pilot a small batch from these districts first. |
| North Karnataka Kanglish (Hubballi-Dharwad, Belagavi, Kalaburagi, Vijayapura) | Pronunciation and word choice differ noticeably from Bengaluru Kannada, and Marathi and Hindi borrowings are common near Belagavi. There is no per-dialect training, so test with local callers. |
| Coastal Karnataka Kanglish (Mangaluru, Udupi) | Tulu, Konkani and Beary are spoken alongside Kannada here. The agent handles Kannada and English; many callers will manage in that mix, but a pilot will show whether yours do. |
Kanglish AI voice agent or Kanglish text to speech?
A Kannada voice-over or text-to-speech tool reads a prepared line and moves on, so a caller's 'Sunday aagutta, pickup beda' gets no reply. A voice agent follows the Kannada particles and the English nouns together, adjusts the booking and writes the summary. Voice broadcast is a fixed message played to a list, with no listening behind it: useful for service reminders, not for rescheduling.

Questions people ask
Is Kanglish a separate option from Kannada?
+
No. Pick Kannada and the agent handles Kanglish on its own, opening in Kannada and switching to English the moment the caller does, in the same voice. Pick English only for lists that are clearly English-first, such as tech-park professionals booking SaaS demos, where a Kannada opening adds little to the call.
What does a Kanglish call actually sound like?
+
Something like: 'Haan, test drive ge register maadidde, but this weekend swalpa busy — next Saturday aagutta?' Kannada politeness and grammar, English for the details that matter. The agent should pick out test drive, next Saturday and the scheduling constraint, answer in the same mix, and book the slot in your calendar.
Bengaluru callers mix several languages, so can the agent handle Tamil or Hindi too?
+
The Kannada agent switches between Kannada and English. A stray Hindi or Tamil word inside a Kanglish sentence is part of normal Bengaluru speech, but a caller who wants the whole conversation in Hindi or Tamil is better served by a campaign in that language — Outpero offers both — on its own number. An account can run as many calls at once as it has channels.
Which Bengaluru businesses need Kanglish handling?
+
Real estate in Whitefield, Sarjapur Road, Hebbal and Electronic City; car and two-wheeler dealerships; hospitals, IVF and dental clinics; coaching and PU admissions; gyms and salons booking trials; and home-services and interior companies following up quotes. In each, callers switch freely, and an agent locked into one language sounds out of place within seconds.
How do I test Kanglish before going live?
+
Sign up at app.outpero.com for 50 free credits, roughly ten minutes at ₹5/min. Call your own number and talk like a real Bengaluru customer — Kannada sentences, English terms, a Koramangala address, an interruption. Then review the transcript and captured fields. There is no setup fee, no monthly base fee, and credits never expire.
How much does a Kanglish AI voice agent cost?
+
Outpero has no setup fee and no monthly base fee — you pay only for connected talk time, from ₹5 per minute (1 credit = ₹1, credits never expire), plus ₹649/month for a dedicated calling number. The price is the same in every language.
What is the best Kanglish AI voice agent?
+
The best Kanglish AI voice agent is the one that passes your own test on your own callers. Check tense and negation in the Kannada ending; neevu, not neenu; hindi and Tamil words inside Kannada. Outpero is a specialist in regional-language voice AI and publishes its price, but it is the vendor writing this page, so run the same tests on any shortlist.
Enterprise and custom: volume plans go as low as ₹3.5/min, quoted on your needs.
