Is a premium AI voice worth the extra cost?
A premium voice is worth it when a more natural voice changes the result of the call: high-value sales, first conversations with warm leads, or audiences that hang up on anything synthetic. On Outpero, Premium costs ₹6.8 per minute against ₹5 for Standard, so a 3-minute call costs about ₹5.40 more. If that wins one extra deal in a few hundred calls, it usually pays back. Prices exclude 18% GST.
What Premium adds
Outpero's Premium tier uses curated native-speaker voices with ultra-low latency. The difference shows in the first few seconds, when a caller decides whether to keep listening, and in longer conversations, where pauses and tone either feel natural or start to grate.
The break-even arithmetic
| Campaign | Extra cost of Premium over Standard | Break-even |
|---|---|---|
| 500 calls × 3 min | 1,500 min × ₹1.80 = ₹2,700 | One extra sale worth more than ₹2,700 |
| 2,000 calls × 2 min | 4,000 min × ₹1.80 = ₹7,200 | One extra sale worth more than ₹7,200 |
| 200 calls × 5 min | 1,000 min × ₹1.80 = ₹1,800 | One extra sale worth more than ₹1,800 |
An interior design firm in Bengaluru with projects worth several lakh, a jewellery showroom following up bridal enquiries, or a developer calling buyers for a 1-crore flat passes this test easily. A D2C brand confirming ₹500 COD orders does not, and should stay on Standard.
When Standard is enough
- —Callers expect a quick, practical call: confirmations, reminders, document follow-ups.
- —The lead already knows your brand and is waiting for the call.
- —Volume is high and the value of each conversion is modest.
How to decide with data
Split a week's leads evenly between Standard and Premium with the same script. Compare the share of connected calls that end in a booking or qualified lead, using the captured fields in the dashboard. If Premium's booking rate is higher by enough to cover ₹1.80 a minute, keep it; if not, the cheaper tier is the better voice for that job.
Keep everything else identical during the test, including calling windows and list quality, so the voice is the only difference being measured.
A middle path
Some businesses use Premium only where it counts: the first call to a fresh, high-value lead, on Premium, and every follow-up, reminder and confirmation after that on Standard. That limits the ₹1.80-a-minute premium to the conversations where first impressions decide the outcome.

Follow-up questions
Does Premium make calls longer and therefore costlier?
+
Not necessarily. Premium's ultra-low latency can make conversations flow faster, with fewer repeated questions. Call length depends more on the script and the caller. Track average minutes per call for each tier in your split test, and compare total cost per booked outcome rather than the per-minute rate alone.
