Can AI voice agents speak Hindi?
Yes. Modern AI voice agents can hold a full phone conversation in Hindi, including the Hinglish most urban callers actually speak. Outpero's agents call in Hindi and switch to English mid-sentence the moment the caller does, in the same voice, with 0.8 to 1.3 seconds on average between the caller finishing and the agent replying. Calls start at ₹5 per minute with no setup fee.
What a Hindi AI call actually sounds like
A good Hindi voice agent does not read a translated English script. It speaks the Hindi people use on the phone: 'aapne enquiry ki thi', 'kal shaam ko', 'EMI kitni banegi'. Words such as booking, site visit, EMI and loan stay in English, because that is how callers in Delhi, Lucknow or Indore say them.
A typical opening line for a real-estate enquiry:
नमस्ते, मैं Green Valley Homes से बोल रही हूँ। आपने कल हमारे 2BHK project के लिए enquiry की थी, क्या अभी दो मिनट बात हो सकती है?
What makes Hindi hard for voice AI
- —Gender agreement. Verbs change with the speaker's gender ('bol raha hoon' versus 'bol rahi hoon'), so the agent's voice and grammar must match.
- —Numbers. Hindi has an irregular word for almost every number up to 100, plus forms like dedh, dhai and saadhe that callers use for prices and times.
- —Code-switching. Many callers move between Hindi and English inside one sentence, and the agent has to follow without a pause.
- —Respect markers. 'Aap' versus 'tum', and adding 'ji' after a name, change how polite a call sounds.
Who should be called in Hindi
Hindi is the right default for callers across Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Haryana, Delhi, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh and Uttarakhand. Census 2011 counted about 528 million first-language Hindi speakers, and many more use it as a working language for business calls in Mumbai, Kolkata and Hyderabad.
Hindi is a weak choice in Tamil Nadu, Kerala and much of Karnataka, where callers expect their own language or English. Outpero covers those markets with Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada agents instead.
How Outpero does it
You pick Hindi when you set up the agent, write the script in plain Hindi or Hinglish, and choose a voice tier: Standard at ₹5/min for everyday sales and support, or Premium at ₹6.8/min, our most lifelike voices. Every call comes back with a recording, full transcript, summary and the fields you asked it to capture. The same Hindi agent can call leads outbound or pick up calls to your business number around the clock. Outpero does not claim training on regional dialects such as Bhojpuri or Haryanvi; the agent speaks standard conversational Hindi.

Follow-up questions
Can a Hindi AI agent understand callers from Bihar or Rajasthan?
+
Usually, when the caller speaks everyday Hindi, which most people do on a business call. Heavy dialect vocabulary from Bhojpuri, Marwari or Haryanvi can be missed, because Outpero does not claim per-dialect training. Test with a small batch of real leads from that region and read the transcripts before scaling the campaign up.
