Outpero

Can AI voice agents handle Bhojpuri, Rajasthani and Haryanvi callers?

Short answer

Partly. Outpero's Hindi agent is built for conversational Hindi, and many Bhojpuri, Rajasthani and Haryanvi speakers answer business calls in Hindi. Outpero does not support these as separate languages and does not claim per-dialect training, so heavy dialect speech may not be understood. Run a pilot before a large Hindi-belt campaign.

The Hindi belt is not one language

Census 2011 groups many mother tongues under Hindi, including Bhojpuri, Rajasthani and Haryanvi. In daily life they are distinct speech forms with their own vocabulary and rhythm. In business settings, though, most callers shift to a more standard Hindi, especially with a stranger or a company.

What Outpero supports

Outpero's Hindi agent is built for the Hindi people actually speak on the phone, including the English they mix in. It is not a Bhojpuri, Rajasthani or Haryanvi agent. Those are not supported languages, and Outpero does not claim training for each dialect.

Caller speaksExpect
Standard or city Hindi (Delhi, Lucknow, Jaipur, Patna)Works well in daily business use
Hindi with local words (rural Bihar, Rajasthan, Haryana)Mostly understood, test your own list
Deep dialect with no Hindi switchLikely to be misunderstood; use a human caller

Scripts that work across the belt

  • —Use everyday Hindi, not formal or Sanskritised words.
  • —Ask closed questions that can be answered with a yes, a number or a choice.
  • —Open with a respectful greeting and 'ji', which is common across the belt.
  • —Repeat key details so the caller can correct them.

Where it is most useful

Loan and insurance follow-ups, agri-input distributors, school admissions and ecommerce COD calls in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Rajasthan and Haryana usually reach callers who respond in a workable Hindi. For villages or older callers, a hybrid works: the agent handles the first call, flags unclear ones, and your team calls back.

Pilot design

  1. 01Take 50 contacts, evenly split across your target districts.
  2. 02Listen to the shortest 10 calls and the longest 10.
  3. 03Count how many ended with a captured answer and how many with a repeat request.
  4. 04Decide whether to scale, simplify the script or keep a human on the hardest districts.

Recording and transcripts are in the dashboard for every call, so the evidence is on your side from day one.

Follow-up questions

Should I record broadcast messages in Bhojpuri instead?

+

For one-way announcements, yes, it can work well. Voice broadcast plays an uploaded audio file in any language or dialect, so a person on your team can record the message in Bhojpuri or Rajasthani. Broadcast cannot understand replies, so keep it to notices and reminders.
