Kannada AI Voice Agent for Education and Coaching in Karnataka

A Kannada AI voice agent for education and coaching in Karnataka calls every admission enquiry in Kannada, speaks to the parent as often as the student, answers questions from the institute's own fee and course material, books a demo class or counselling slot in Google Calendar, and reminds families about instalments. It suits PU colleges, CET and NEET coaching centres, schools and skill institutes during admission peaks. It does not promise ranks, seats or scholarships, and counsellors keep the sensitive conversations.

What this guide covers

Outpero sells the Kannada AI voice agent described here and publishes this guide, so run the tests below on every vendor, Outpero included. It covers outbound admission, demo-class and fee calls. Rules on data of minors, fees and advertising change, so treat the compliance notes as general information, not legal advice.

Why admission calls in Karnataka are really parent calls

An admission enquiry usually carries the student's name but the parent's decision. A father in Mysuru or a mother in Hubballi fills in the form, often from a phone shared with the family, and expects a call in Kannada that respects their time. Student phones are the wrong number to dial for fee talk, which is why the agent should ask for the parent by name and speak to a parent as an adult making a significant spending decision.

The calls also come in bursts. Interest in PU colleges climbs after SSLC results, CET and NEET coaching enquiries cluster around result days and before new batches, and schools see enquiries well before a new academic year. Dates move every year, but the pattern repeats: a hundred forms arrive in a day, and a small counselling team calls back over a week. By then the family has been called by three other institutes.

Four jobs a Kannada AI voice agent does for an institute

Sectors it fits, and how each one differs

PU colleges

The decision is made by the parent after the SSLC result, and the key questions are the combination (PCMB or PCMC for science, commerce combinations), the college's results claims, the hostel and the fee. The agent can capture the combination the student wants and the SSLC marks band, then book a visit to the campus. Marks and past-result questions should come only from numbers the college has approved.

CET and NEET coaching

Families compare several coaching centres in Bengaluru, Mysuru, Mangaluru or Kalaburagi in the same week. The call should find out the target exam, the year, whether the student is a first-timer or a repeater, and the preferred batch timing. A demo class is the real conversion step, so the agent's goal is to book it and to confirm the day before through a text.

Schools

Enquiries concern the class, board, transport and fees, and usually come from parents of young children who want a campus visit. The agent can book the visit and capture the child's age and class. It should not discuss admission eligibility beyond what the school has approved.

Skill institutes and training centres

A computer, spoken English or technical course in Tumakuru or Belagavi sells to students and working adults directly. The agent can call students as the decision-maker, ask about their goal and schedule, and book a free orientation. Calls run longer when the course is for a job, so watch minutes per call.

Want to hear this working, not just read about it?

(Hello sir, I am Vidya PU College's AI assistant. An admission enquiry came for your daughter. May we talk now?)
  2. 02Parent: 'ಹೂಂ, ಹೇಳಿ. PCMB ಬಗ್ಗೆ ತಿಳ್ಕೊಬೇಕಿತ್ತು.' (Yes, tell me. I wanted to know about PCMB.)
(Right. Does she need NEET preparation along with it, or PU alone?)
  4. 04Parent: 'NEET ಜೊತೆಗೇ ಬೇಕು. Fees ಎಷ್ಟು ಆಗುತ್ತೆ?' (Along with NEET. What will the fees be?)
(I will share the fee details the college has given. The counsellor will discuss any concession. Shall we set a campus visit on Saturday at four in the evening?)

The agent answers a fee question from approved material, hands off concession and eligibility talk to a human, and then moves the parent to a booked visit. That sequence, answer from material and book the next step, is the pattern to test on any vendor.

Booking demo classes and counselling in Google Calendar

The agent books one real slot in the connected Google Calendar after confirming the date and time aloud, within business hours the institute sets. It checks the slot is free, writes the parent's name, phone and the course interest into the event, and offers another time if the slot is taken. Times are in Indian Standard Time.

  • —Use a shared counselling calendar. One Google account is linked per AI employee.
  • —Booking is all the agent does. Reschedule and cancel requests are handled by staff, and no calendar invitation is emailed to the family.
  • —Send the confirmation as an approved WhatsApp text with the venue link, since the product does not send its own confirmation.

Fee reminders that parents do not resent

Fee reminder calls are the quiet money-maker for an institute. The agent states the instalment date and amount from the pre-call data, asks if the family can pay by a date, records the promised date, and sends an approved WhatsApp template with a payment link through the institute's own Meta Cloud API, Interakt or AiSensy account. Tone matters more than any other setting: no threats, no mention of the student's marks, and an easy way to ask for a callback from the accounts office.

  • —Keep reminders inside the days and hours the institute sets. Bulk campaigns are limited by the platform to 9 am to 9 pm, and the institute can narrow that further.
  • —A family that confirms it wants no more calls goes on the account-level do-not-call list and is not dialled again.
  • —Skip exam weeks. A parent hears a reminder very differently on the day before a board paper.

What to keep out of the script

  • —No rank, selection or seat guarantees, and no past-result figures that are not published by the institute.
  • —No comparison with named rival institutes.
  • —No scholarship or fee-waiver promises unless the policy is in the knowledge base.
  • —Speak to the parent, not to a minor, for fee, address and consent discussions. Student data is personal data, and rules on children's data are strict, so check with a qualified adviser. This is general information, not legal advice.
  • —State at the start of the call that the caller is speaking to an AI assistant, and offer a human callback.

KPIs for an admission season

MetricWhat it tells you
Time to first callWhether the family hears from you before the next institute calls them
Parent reachedShare of calls answered by the parent rather than the student or a wrong number
Demo or visit bookedCalendar events per 100 connected calls; the main outcome
Show-up rateBooked demos that happen; low numbers point to the reminder text or slot wording
Counsellor hours savedCounsellor time moved from first-touch calls to families who asked for a conversation
Fee promise keptShare of promised payment dates that turn into payments, from your own accounts records

What it costs for an admission season

Standard is ₹5 per connected minute and Premium ₹6.8, with no setup fee and 50 free credits at signup; a number is ₹649 a month including one channel, and prices exclude 18% GST. Illustration only: 900 parents reached for an average of 2 minutes is 1,800 minutes, or ₹9,000 on Standard. With the ₹649 number the subtotal is ₹9,649, GST is ₹1,736.82, and the total is ₹11,385.82, about ₹12.65 per parent reached. Peak days need more channels, since each channel is one call at a time.

Honest limits for institutes

  • —Each agent opens in one language, speaks English, and can follow at most one extra Indian language. A Kannada agent can add Hindi for families from other states, not Tulu or Konkani, which are not supported.
  • —The agent follows a neutral spoken register. Rural and coastal Kannada varies, and Outpero does not train per dialect, so pilot with parents from your own lists.
  • —It does not run counselling or assess a student's suitability. It captures facts and books the next step.
  • —The agent books calendar slots but does not move or cancel them later, and WhatsApp replies from parents go to the institute's own inbox.
  • —Voicemail detection is tuned for English greetings, so Kannada greetings may sometimes be mistaken for a person.
  • —Opt-out and consent duties remain with the institute. DND screening and calling hours are built in for bulk campaigns.

To test it, take 100 enquiries from last season, call them through a pilot agent with a Kannada script and a clear fee fact sheet, and read the transcripts. Look for three things: how many parents the agent actually reached, how many demos it booked, and what questions it could not answer. The third list is the most useful input for the next version of the knowledge base.

Frequently asked questions

Can a Kannada AI voice agent follow up admission enquiries?

+

Yes. It calls each enquiry from a web form, Meta ad or portal within seconds of arrival, subject to how fast the source delivers it, speaks Kannada with English terms, captures the course and preferred time, and books a demo class or campus visit.

Does it work for PU colleges and CET or NEET coaching?

+

It suits both. For PU colleges it captures the combination, such as PCMB or PCMC, and books a visit. For CET and NEET coaching it captures the exam, the year and the batch preference and books a demo class. Results and rank claims stay out of the script.

Can it talk to parents in Kannada?

+

Yes. It opens in Kannada, uses respectful forms, and moves into English when the parent does. It speaks a neutral spoken register without dialect training, so test with parents from your own district lists before a full campaign.

Can it remind families about fee instalments?

+

Yes. It calls on the due date, records a promised payment date, and sends an approved WhatsApp text with a payment link through your own provider account. Keep the tone polite and offer a callback from the accounts office.

What will an admission season cost?

+

At ₹5 per connected minute on Standard, 1,800 minutes cost ₹9,000, plus the ₹649 number and 18% GST, ₹11,385.82 in total. That is illustrative arithmetic. Unanswered calls are not billed, and 50 free credits cover a first test.

What should the agent never promise parents?

+

Never ranks, seats, selections, scholarships or comparisons with other institutes unless approved material says so. It should answer fee and timing questions from the institute's own information and pass concessions and eligibility to a counsellor.
