Assamese AI voice agents
Outpero does not speak Assamese yet. Today the agent can call Assam leads in Hindi or Indian English, which suits some urban and business callers in Guwahati, but it is not the right fit for customers who are only comfortable in Assamese. Outpero's live languages are Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Marathi, Kannada, Malayalam and English.

Why Assamese is hard for voice AI
Assamese sounds unlike its neighbours: it uses a velar fricative, written 'x' in romanisation, where Bengali and Hindi have 's' or 'sh', and it lacks the dental-retroflex contrast found in most Indian languages, so voices trained on Hindi or Bengali sound plainly foreign. Its script is close to Bengali's but has distinct letters such as ৰ and ৱ. Public speech data is scarce, and Upper Assam, Kamrupi and Goalpariya speech differ.
What to use today
Outpero has no Assamese voice today and does not claim one. What works now: many Guwahati business, student and white-collar callers are comfortable in Hindi or English, and the Hindi agent switches to English when the caller does. For Assamese-first callers across the Brahmaputra Valley, a human telecaller is still the better choice.
Outpero’s live languages are Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Marathi, Kannada, Malayalam and English.

Questions people ask
Can Outpero call Assam leads in Assamese?
+
Not yet. Outpero's live languages are Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Marathi, Kannada, Malayalam and Indian English. In Guwahati, many students, professionals and traders are comfortable in Hindi or English, so those agents can call them today. For customers who expect Assamese — most of the state outside the larger towns — keep a human telecaller on those leads for now.
Is Hindi or English the better fallback in Assam?
+
It depends on the list. Students, IT and corporate leads in Guwahati often prefer English. Traders and many urban callers handle Hindi well. Some Assamese-speaking callers are less comfortable in Hindi, so test both with small batches from your own list, read the transcripts and summaries, and route the rest to your team.
What makes Assamese hard for voice AI?
+
Its sounds. Assamese uses a velar fricative where neighbouring languages use 's' or 'sh', and it lacks the dental-retroflex distinction most Indian languages have, so a voice built for Hindi or Bengali sounds clearly foreign. Add scarce public speech data and real regional variation between Upper Assam and Kamrupi speech, and it needs dedicated work.
Which Assam businesses could use Outpero today?
+
Those with Hindi- or English-comfortable leads: coaching and college admissions in Guwahati, study-abroad consultants, hospitals that draw patients from across the Northeast, car and two-wheeler dealerships, and B2B suppliers answering IndiaMART enquiries. The agent calls each lead within 30 seconds and logs a recording, transcript and summary for your team.
