How do I calculate ROI on AI calling?

Short answer

Compare what the AI calls cost with what they bring in or save. Add connected minutes × rate, the number rental and your own time as cost. On the other side, count extra leads reached, appointments booked and sales closed, plus telecaller hours freed. Use your own conversion rates, not anyone's averages, and judge it over at least a month of real calls.

The formula

ROI is the gain from the calls minus their cost, divided by their cost. The hard part is not the arithmetic. It is being honest about which gains are caused by the AI and which would have happened anyway.

Count the cost properly

  • —Talk time: connected minutes × ₹5 on Standard or ₹6.8 on Premium; unanswered calls are not billed
  • —A dedicated +91 number at ₹649 a month, which includes 1 channel, plus ₹649 for each extra channel if you need more calls at once
  • —18% GST on top, if you cannot claim it back
  • —Your own setup time: writing the script, testing, connecting the lead source
  • —The human time still needed to follow up on what the AI qualifies

Count the gain in two buckets

The first bucket is revenue: leads that were previously called late or never, now reached in under 30 seconds, and the appointments and sales that came from them. The second is cost: telecaller hours no longer spent dialling and re-dialling, which you can redeploy or not hire.

A worked example, with assumed numbers

These figures are assumptions for illustration, not a promise. A clinic gets 600 enquiries a month. Say 360 pick up, and the average connected call lasts 2 minutes. That is 720 minutes, or ₹3,600 on Standard, plus ₹649 for the number: ₹4,249 a month before GST.

A telecaller handling the same list costs roughly ₹18,000 a month as a reference figure and calls one person at a time. If the AI books even a handful more appointments than the late-called leads would have, and each appointment is worth more than the per-appointment cost, the sum works. If your average sale is small and your conversion rate low, it may not.

Mistakes that distort the answer

  • —Comparing the AI with a perfect human, not with the call you really make today after a delay or a missed lead
  • —Counting dialled calls instead of connected conversations
  • —Judging in a week, before the script has been fixed after the first transcripts

Run it for at least a month on one lead source, keep a comparison group where possible, and read the transcripts. Outpero's call log shows the credits each call used, which makes the cost side exact.

Follow-up questions

What is a good ROI for AI calling?

+

There is no honest universal figure. Outpero publishes no conversion uplift and this site does not quote one. The answer depends on your lead volume, margin per sale, connect rate and how fast you called before. Measure your own baseline first, then compare a month of AI calls against it.

Enterprise and custom: volume plans go as low as ₹3.5/min, quoted on your needs.
