What is Voice broadcasting?
Voice broadcasting is sending a pre-recorded audio message to a large list of phone numbers at once, with little or no ability for the recipient to respond beyond pressing a key.
Also called: voice blast, OBD campaign, bulk voice call, IVR broadcast
In India it is often sold as OBD (outbound dialing) and used by banks for alerts, schools for announcements and political campaigns before elections. It is cheap per call and can reach lakhs of numbers in a few hours. Interaction is limited to keypresses such as 'press 1 to speak to us'. Promotional broadcasts are subject to TRAI's DLT and DND rules like any other commercial call.
