What is DPDP Act 2023?
The DPDP Act is India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, the law that governs how organisations collect, use, store and share the personal data of individuals in India.

It treats the organisation as a data fiduciary and the individual as a data principal, and makes consent that is free, specific, informed and withdrawable the main lawful basis for processing. Fiduciaries must use data only for the stated purpose, maintain reasonable security safeguards, report breaches, and honour requests to access, correct or erase data. Penalties run up to ₹250 crore for the most serious failures, and its implementing rules are being phased in.
