Product feature

Do-Not-Call list, consent and recording-notice controls for AI calls

Outpero keeps a Do-Not-Call list for your account in Settings and checks it when contacts are imported, when an instant lead arrives and again at the moment of dialling. The AI also asks for confirmation before adding someone who opts out. The product does not scrub numbers against the national NDNC registry: DND and DLT duties stay with you.

How do-Not-Call and consent controls works, step by step

  • 01A contact list is uploaded, or a new lead arrives from a connected source, and Outpero checks each number against your account's Do-Not-Call list before it is accepted.
  • 02At the moment a call is about to be dialled, the number is checked again, so a person added to the list after import is still skipped.
  • 03When the call connects, the Recording notice, if switched on, plays 'This call is being recorded' before the greeting, and the agent then says it is an AI.
  • 04If the person asks not to be called again, the AI confirms what they mean before ending the call politely.
  • 05After the call, the classifier adds the number to the list only if the opt-out was confirmed; if it was unclear, the owner is notified to decide.

  1. Outpero AI
Hello, I am an AI assistant calling from Sunrise Finance about the personal loan offer. May I speak with Mr Naidu?
  2. Caller
Speaking. Listen, I have told your people before. Do not call me again.
  3. Outpero AI
I am sorry for the trouble. To be sure, do you want us to stop all further calls to this number?
  4. Caller
    Yes, stop all calls.
  5. Outpero AI
Understood. I will note that now and you will not be called again.
  6. Caller
    Okay, thank you.
  7. Outpero AI
Thank you for your time, Mr Naidu. Goodbye.
  8. Caller
    Alright, goodbye.
What the agent did

Opt-out confirmed by the caller, so the classifier flags do-not-call and the number is added to the account's Do-Not-Call list. Later imports, new leads and dial attempts for this number are skipped. Had the answer been unclear, the owner would have been notified instead.

Set up do-Not-Call and consent controls

  • 01Open Settings and find the Do-Not-Call list, then add or paste any numbers you already know must never be called.
  • 02Open the AI employee and switch on the 'Recording notice' toggle if your calls are recorded and you want the notice played before the greeting.
  • 03Create a bulk campaign or connect a lead source and tick the consent attestation that is required before the campaign can launch or the source can connect.
  • 04Check the calling hours on the campaign or instant-lead settings; you can narrow the allowed window but never widen it past the platform limit.
  • 05After the first calls, return to Settings to review the numbers the AI added and any opt-out notifications waiting for your decision.

In detail

Do-Not-Call and consent controls explained

What the product enforces and what it leaves to you

Calling rules in India sit with the business that places the call. Outpero gives you controls that make it harder to call someone who should not be called, but it does not replace your own compliance process. This page is general information, not legal advice.

AreaOutpero doesYou are responsible for
Do-Not-Call listKeeps one list per account and checks it at import, lead arrival and dialAdding numbers you know are opted out, and reviewing the AI's additions
National registryNothing automatic; there is no NDNC or TRAI scrubChecking numbers against DND, and DLT registration duties for your use
ConsentRequires an attestation before a campaign launches or a source connectsHaving a lawful reason to call and records of it
RecordingPlays 'This call is being recorded' before the greeting when the toggle is onDeciding whether to switch the notice on for your calls
IdentityThe agent states that it is an AITelling callers truthfully who the business is

How opt-outs are handled

Many callers say something like 'don't call me' in passing, and not every such remark is a firm instruction. Outpero's agent therefore checks what the person means. The classifier adds the number only when the opt-out is confirmed. If it is not confirmed, the owner is notified so that a person makes the call on the list.

Because the list is checked at import, at lead arrival and at dial, an added number stops being called from every route: a fresh CSV, an instant lead from a form, and a retry that was already queued.

Calling hours and the AI disclosure

Windows are clamped by the platform. You can make a campaign narrower, for example 10:00 to 19:00, but not wider. The agent also tells the person it is an AI, which is part of the opening of each call.

Read the rules that apply to you

TRAI's telecom commercial communications rules, DLT registration and your sector regulator may all apply to your calls. The glossary and the legal guide linked below explain the terms; take advice for your own situation.

Put it to work

What teams use do-Not-Call and consent controls for

UseHow it helps
Clean a purchased or old list before a campaignAdd known opt-outs to the Do-Not-Call list first, so the import step drops them and they never reach the dialer.
Stop repeat calls to someone who objectedA confirmed opt-out on one campaign blocks that number across the account, including instant leads and later bulk runs.
Run calls with a clear recording noticeSwitch on the Recording notice so every call starts with 'This call is being recorded' before the AI greets the person.
Keep calls inside sensible hoursThe calling-hours limits prevent a campaign from dialling early in the morning or late at night, even if it was configured loosely.

Straight answers

What do-Not-Call and consent controls does not do

Limits and things to know before you rely on it
  • !There is no automated scrub against the national NDNC or TRAI registry, so checking numbers against DND and meeting DLT duties remains the customer's responsibility.
  • !The AI adds a number to the list only after a confirmed opt-out; an unclear or hesitant refusal notifies the owner, who must decide and add the number by hand.
  • !The consent attestation is your own declaration when you launch a campaign or connect a source, and Outpero does not verify where your numbers came from.
  • !Calling hours can only be narrowed: bulk campaigns are limited to 09:00 to 21:00 and instant leads to 06:00 to 22:00, and these are platform limits, not legal advice.
  • !The Do-Not-Call list belongs to one account, and the Recording notice plays only when its toggle is switched on.

Do-Not-Call and consent controls: questions people ask

Does Outpero check numbers against the NDNC or DND registry?

+

No. There is no automated NDNC or TRAI registry scrub in the product. Outpero enforces your own account Do-Not-Call list at import, lead arrival and dial, but checking numbers against the national DND registry and meeting DLT obligations are duties that sit with the customer placing the calls.

What happens when someone tells the AI to stop calling?

+

The agent confirms what the person means and ends the call politely. After the call the classifier adds the number to your Do-Not-Call list only if the opt-out was confirmed. If it was ambiguous, Outpero notifies the owner instead, so a person decides whether to add the number.

Where is the Do-Not-Call list enforced?

+

It is account-level and enforced in three places: when contacts are imported, when an instant lead arrives from a connected source, and again at the moment a call is dialled. That means a number added later is still skipped, even if it was already inside a queued campaign.

Does the AI tell people the call is recorded?

+

Yes, if you switch on the Recording notice toggle. The notice 'This call is being recorded' plays before the greeting. Separately, the agent identifies itself as an AI during the conversation. Whether you need the notice for your calls is a decision for you and your adviser.

What is the consent attestation?

+

It is a confirmation you give in the app before you can launch a campaign or connect a lead source, stating that you have the right to contact those people. It is your own declaration. Outpero does not verify the origin of your numbers, so keep your own records of consent.

Can I call at any hour?

+

No. The platform limits calling hours: bulk campaigns run between 09:00 and 21:00 and instant leads between 06:00 and 22:00, and you can only narrow those windows. A narrower window often suits the audience better anyway, for example evenings for working professionals.
